01 ――リニューアルを経て、和とリゾートが調和した空間へと生まれ変わりました。ゲストにどのような「旅の情緒」や癒やしのひとときを感じてほしいとお考えですか？

「いすず館」様の最大の魅力は、館内の随所から海を望める立地と、和の趣に海辺のリゾートらしい開放感を取り入れた空間づくりにあります。
今回のリニューアルで特に注目したいのが、客室の窓際に新設された畳敷きの「ヌック」です。足を伸ばして寛ぎながら、海の気配を間近に感じられるプライベートな特等席となっています。また、ロビーのキッズスペースにもヌックが採用されており、お子様連れのご家族も楽しく過ごせるなど、館内のいたるところで「寛ぎ」へのこだわりが感じられます。風が吹き抜けるデッキやリゾートソファなど、旅の高揚感と家のような落ち着きが同居する空間で、島時間ならではの癒やしのひとときをぜひ感じていただきたいです。

名物の「たこしゃぶ」や茹でだこはもちろん、旬のお魚や貝類、冬にはふぐなど、その時季ならではの海の幸を多彩に楽しめることが大きな魅力です。特に、古くからふぐ延縄漁が行われてきた日間賀島で味わうふぐ料理は、島が育んできた食文化に触れるきっかけにもなります。

日間賀島の海や夕陽を眺めながら、日常を離れ、心と体をゆっくりと休めていただける滞在をお届けしたいという想いで、ロビーと一部客室のリニューアルを行いました。
ロビーには、海を一望できる大きな窓と開放的なデッキを設け、自然を存分に感じられる空間に。床を絨毯に変更し、開放感を残しながらも安らぎを感じられる雰囲気に仕上げました。また、ハンモックやヌック、キッズスペースを設け、大人からお子様まで、それぞれがお気に入りの場所を見つけて過ごせるよう工夫しています。 客室においても、オーシャンビューを主役に、心を満たす特別な時間をお過ごしいただける空間を目指しました。
――宿泊者が土地の魅力を味わうために、特に意識している「おもてなし」のポイントは？
日間賀島 いすず館：
大切にしているのは、館内で過ごす時間のなかで、自然と「島らしさ」を感じていただくことです。潮風や波音を感じながら名物の「たこつぼ風呂」に浸かり、地元の海の幸を味わう。決まった過ごし方を押し付けるのではなく、お客様それぞれのペースでゆっくりと島時間を楽しんでいただくこと。それこそが、私たちが一番大切にしているおもてなしです。

01 ――Following the renovation, the space has been reborn into a harmonious blend of Japanese tradition and resort style. What kind of "travel sentiment" and healing moments do you hope guests will experience?

The greatest charm of "Isuzukan" lies in its location, offering ocean views from various spots throughout the property, and its spatial design that blends Japanese taste with the open, airy feel of a seaside resort.
Of particular note in this renovation are the newly established tatami-matted "nooks" by the guest room windows. They serve as private, prime seats where guests can stretch out, relax, and feel close to the presence of the ocean. Additionally, a nook has been adopted in the lobby's kids' space, allowing families with children to spend time enjoyably, showing a meticulous dedication to "relaxation" everywhere in the facility. In a space where a breeze-swept deck and resort sofas coexist—blending the excitement of travel with the comfort of home—we hope guests will truly feel the unique healing moments of island time.
02 The Island Story Dwell in the "Food" of Himakajima
――Regarding the tastes unique to Himakajima, such as "tako-shabu" (octopus shabu-shabu), what kind of emotional resonance do you hope to deliver through food?

A major charm is the ability to enjoy a rich variety of seasonal seafood, not only the specialty "tako-shabu" and boiled octopus, but also seasonal fish, shellfish, and pufferfish (fugu) in the winter. In particular, enjoying fugu dishes on Himakajima, where longline fugu fishing has been practiced since ancient times, serves as an opportunity to touch the food culture nurtured by the island.
We want guests not only to taste the cuisine but also to reflect on the rich sea, fishing, and island life behind it. We hope to deliver an emotionally moving experience that stays in the memory of the journey—the kind that can only be tasted because one visited Himakajima in this season.
03 The Ultimate Island Time Delivered by "Isuzukan"
――What is the "ultimate luxury" unique to Isuzukan that makes you forget your busy daily routine?

The ultimate luxury is surrendering yourself to the slowly flowing time by the sea. On the small island of Himakajima, with a circumference of about 5.5 km, guests can enjoy island time at their own pace, whether strolling along the beach right in front or exploring by bicycle while feeling the sea breeze. Inside the property, you can rest in a hammock in the lobby featuring large windows framing the ocean view, or spend quiet time in a nook while gazing at the ever-changing sea and sunset. 04 From the Accommodation: Thoughts Put into the Renovation and "Hospitality"
――With this renovation, what kind of experience did you intend to deliver to staying guests, and what ingenuity was put into the spatial creation and room design?
Himakajima Isuzukan:
We carried out the renovation of the lobby and some guest rooms with the desire to provide a stay where guests can leave behind their daily lives and thoroughly rest their minds and bodies while gazing at the sea and sunset of Himakajima.
In the lobby, we created large windows with panoramic ocean views and an open deck, making it a space to fully experience nature. We changed the floor to carpeting, finishing it with an atmosphere that retains an open feel while providing tranquility. Additionally, we set up hammocks, nooks, and a kids' space so that adults and children alike can find their favorite spot to spend time. In the guest rooms as well, with the ocean view taking center stage, we aimed for a space where you can spend special time that fulfills your heart.
――What points of "hospitality" are you particularly conscious of so that guests can experience the charm of the land?
Himakajima Isuzukan:
What we cherish is allowing guests to naturally feel the "island-ness" during their time spent inside the facility. Soaking in the specialty "takotsubo bath" while feeling the sea breeze and the sound of waves, and tasting local seafood. Rather than forcing a fixed way to spend time, it is about letting each guest enjoy island time slowly at their own pace. That is precisely the hospitality we value the most.
